This morning on Jake's Showcase http://youtube.com/JakesShowcase my video "Quit Drinking Alcohol for Good What AA and NA Meetings are Really Like" http://youtu.be/Jt1ffBpLVDo is at 304 Views 18 Likes 0 Dislikes. With a stronger then expected Monday showing I passed 301 views for this video for the week. This is a weekly minimum target at this point on Jake's Showcase.
The weekend was lower for the channel then I had expected, usually a drinking video draws the eyes on a Sunday as people look for ways to sober up, but Monday made up for it.
Clearly the big news is that I surpassed 1500 subscribers now at 1502 last night. YouTube and Social blade views channels subscriber bases in increments of 500 so 1500 was 10 months in coming and a big accomplishment. As I've stated once I hit 1000 Subscribers last December my personal target of getting 1000 Subscribers was reached. However having a larger number of subscribers is important because the number of subscribers a channel has is a factor in determining the search listing ranking of each video associated with that channel from the past and into the future.
So say for example two channels have the exact same type of video, content, engagement, topic, everything the same and channel A has 1000 subscribers and channel B has 1500 subscribers the video that channel B has will rank higher because they have more subscribers overall determined in increments of 500.
Therefore each one of my current and previous videos should see a search ranking bump of some proportion which should lead to a corresponding bump in views. Now this is on a macro level and the size and shape of the bump is yet to be seen, but it should occur.
So yes, while I continue to be all about views and obtaining my ever elusive but always getting closer 1 million views, the subscriber numbers increase in increments of 500 is very valuable to my goal.
So there you go 1500 Subscribers for a guy with nothing.
Go figure, there's gotta be a talent emerging around here, and I think that talent might be me.
