Tonight on Jake's Showcase http://youtube.com/JakesShowcase I have just released "United States to go to War with Canada over Santa!" https://youtu.be/gzcSLU7WgR4 currently at 12 views 4 Likes 2 Dislikes. It was 69 shots with predominately spotlight lighting.
I wanted to spice Jake's Showcase up again so I decided to throw this in. This I believe was my longest comedy skit to date encompassing 4 characters and several intertwining voice overs. This was tricky to shoot and to sort of keep the script as close to possible for the interacting pieces. I did all the first character, the second, the third and the Santa and then had to mix and match how the conversation was suppose to go. You can see that there is a bit of overlap but for the most part the conversation back and forth's are pretty coherent and smooth.
In a perfect world I could have even cut the snippets of the short frames to make the conversation more smooth but because my computer is old and sucks and my Kodak software is bankrupt and not supported it cannot both cut the edges off frames and save multiple frames successfully so I don't cut snippets. It took about an hour to shoot the frames and about 4 hours the next day to edit and mix and match.
In a way I think it's my best because of how many interacting voices and the conversations and how long the piece is. Really I like the scenes sort of style but because I don't have anyone else to be an actor or an actress with I have to be all the characters. Oh yeah, plus the writer, director and cameraman...oh and editor.
I truly am a one man show. Imagine me and a women, what could be done. I have the ideas and the energy but the fact that even my camera stand continues to be broken after three years and I struggle to even keep the camera sort of straight for one lucky shot at a time is testament to how challenging this has been and in many ways how I am still in the same place. But in one way I'm not in the same place because when I wake up in the morning now I'm not starting at 0 but rather with a channel that has been seen with over 736,000 views so that is the new starting point. Even if it feels like no progress is shown, progress shows itself.
Have a Wonderful Day or Night Fans,
