It was single shot with spotlight, overhead and natural lighting. I actually shot this about 28 times. Of those I was able to get about 8 full songs in. It was written on a Monday night and shot Tuesday morning this is the full second take. When I got to my place on Monday night I refused to come out of my place until at least one full song was on video.
Over the next 3 days I took afternoon takes, night takes and more morning takes. I did two today which were the closest competitors as I had mastered the song. Today I had a version that was clear longer and slower as well as one that was faster and sharper but it was this one in the middle that felt the full presence of the emotion most effectively.
As recently as last night I spoke of not uploading another video because the prior video was doing very well and I wanted it to have a chance to go viral. But sometimes emotion trumps everything. I did not care, this video had to go out. True, it didn't hurt that the overall channel volume was down today proportionately and I could tell that the viral effect of views rising at a faster and faster rate was not happening and therefore my hope for a viral video was eliminated.
Passion, truth, beauty. This is what I live for.
