Here I actually made this video about a week and a half ago on Dec 23 and I thought a walk through in my Christmas shopping for a girl, who happens to be my sister, would make for interesting material. I took the shots as I went through my trip and then lined them up after.
It's true it's sort of ho hum and maybe not funny like people might think but it was real and it was the real thought process that I went through.
Interesting here was the change of mind on the third and final gift. The real fancy pencil crayons were just way to expensive and you can see both my rational, and disappointment as I found out how much they were.
Brings home a good message too. While I'm all in for Christmas, gift giving and being generous there are limits to how much we can reasonably afford while minding our real lives too and I make the point here that it's the thought that counts the most.
I hope this step by step brings some humanness to the Jake's Showcase vibe and even though mid video I backtracked and went from it doesn't matter how much you spend at Christmas to spend within your means I think that even that makes the video even more real.
And good news, she loved the gifts. She could stop putting on the scarf and loved the lotion.
